Open Water Vs. Turner & Hooch

Holy crap I made the mistake of watching River Monsters the other night and they were talking about Bull Sharks adapting and moving into fresh water in Australia and doing completely bat-shite crazy stuff like attacking horses and I am now TERRIFIED of rivers. I’ve seen a shark up close in water, literally less than five feet away, it’s the reason I won’t ever swim in the ocean again, AND NOW these eating machines are now in our lakes, streams, and rivers? Thanks cable T.V., THANKS for scaring the beejeezus out of me.

- What the F’ DC? Killing Ryan Choi in the new Titans book for what? FOR WHAT? I for one really dug Mr. Choi as the new Atom, I really felt that Gail Simone and even Rick Remember did great things with the character not only as a legacy character, but also as a hard sci-fi character. And now you’ve killed him to what, to remind us Deathstroke is B.A.? We don’t need a reminder. He nuked Bludhaven during Infinite Crisis. He drugged and psychologically abused his daughter to make her a super-villain, and this was before the creep-fest that Brubaker gave us between Sin & Crossbones in Captain America. He was responsible for Terra & her betrayal of the Teen Titans back in the day, OH and he was stoopin’ her and she was like 16. C-R-E-E-P-Y! So no matter what the 90’s tried to tell us, he is EVIL, he’s dangerous, and there is no need to have him kill an interesting character just to ‘remind’ us of that.
- Wow, Siege was underwhelming. The Sentry one-shot afterwards was even worse. The idea of Rogue scroggin’ The Sentry because he was the only one who could touch her this whole time really takes a steaming crap on the character of Rogue. So not only was The Sentry married, but we now know he used to bang Crystal from the Inhumans, and occasionally ‘pity F*&k’ Rogue. Classy guy, I’m glad he’s dead.
- Speaking of the failings of Marvel, and there are MANY, the Heroic Age is really looking ‘Heroic’ with the new Spider-man Vs. The Kraven family story kicking off. Their going to sacrifice a Spider-girl, we’ve gotten to see the Kraven family ‘punk’ classic Spidey villains in what amounts to a rip-off of the Knightfall story set-up, and now I’m going to have to set through watching Spidey suffer again. Thanks Marvel, thanks for not having an original idea in your collective heads currently, and beating the drum of sub-par comics to death.

There I feel a bit better now.

Would you like some

- I’ve been re-listening to Waves Of Mercury’s The Great Darkness (Infinite *’s out of 5), and it really was the best album I heard last year.
- The first issue of Grant Morrison’s Return Of Batman was INCREDIBLE! Batman fighting Cavemen, with gorgeous Chris Sprouse art, and the tying up of all the loose ends of Final Crisis!
- I’m a tad over a week away from Gaming Weekend and running the Chaos Scar. This weekend I need to pick out the best of the adventure options and begin formulating my battle plans. I have high hopes to run this in spectacular fashion.
- Even with all my GEEK RAGE about Marvel right now I must say I’m sort of intrigued by Shadowland and some other things they’ve got percolating, such as the Thanos Imperative.
- Anyone out there with some free time and some art skill want to paint me a map of my D&D world?
- We are three episodes in to the first season of True Blood and thus far it has NOT disappointed. It’s a show that doesn’t seem to take itself to seriously, but at the same time can amp up the sense of tension and dread. The characters are interesting and multi-faceted. I really like it.

It’s that time again…

“I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
walkin through the streets of Soho in the rain.
He was lookin’ for the place called Lee Ho Fooks, gonna’ get a big dish of beef chow mein.

Aaahoo, werewolves of London
Aaahoo, werewolves of London

Ya hear him howlin’ around your kitchen door, ya better not let him in.
Little old lady got mutilated late last night, werewolves of London again.

Aaahoo, werewolves of London

He's the hairy, hairy gent, who ran amok in Kent.
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair.
You better stay away from him, he'll rip your lungs out Jim.
Huh, I'd like to meet his tailor.

Aaahoo, werewolves of London
Aaahoo, werewolves of London

Well, I saw Lon Chaney walkin’ with the queen, doing the werewolves of London.
I saw Lon Chaney Jr. walkin’ with the queen, doin’ the werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinkin’ a pina colada at Trader Vic's
And his hair was perfect.

ahhhooooo, werewolves of London
Draw blood!”

  1. It probably does not hurt True Blood's review that there are a ton of ta tas every episode, right?

  2. I can neither confirm NOR deny that summation...
